2. How do I get my Transportation Risk Specialist (TRS) Designation?

Education Requirements

Complete the Trucking U on-line program and pass the test
OR
Attend the face-to-face 16-hour Motor Carrier Insurance Considerations and pass the test

After Completion of Trucking U or Motor Carrier Insurance Considerations –
Attend Advanced Underwriting
Attend Advanced Coverage

Service Requirement

Supply work history documenting your providing of service to motor carriers for at least two years.

Membership Requirement

Motor Carrier Insurance Education Foundation (MCIEF) membership is required to earn and maintain the TRS Designation.

4. Can I pay my registration fee using a credit card?

To make payment with a credit card you may register for the class online by logging in to https://mcief.org, finding the desired class in the calendar and completing the registration and credit card information

OR

Email your completed registration form to trs@mcief.org and then call 239-997-4084 to provide your credit card information

5. What is the schedule for the live face-to-face classes?

Motor Carrier Insurance Considerations, Advanced Coverage and Advanced
Underwriting all adhere to the following schedule:
Day 1 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, lunch provided from 12:00 to 12:45
Day 2 – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, lunch provided from 12:00 to 12:45

The Annual Conference schedule is as follows:
Day 1 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Day 2 – 8:00 am to noon for 12-hour program
12:30 pm to 4:30 pm for additional 4-hour program

6. What is appropriate attire for the live face-to-face classes?

Casual attire is fine for Motor Carrier Insurance Considerations, Advanced
Coverage and Advanced Underwriting. Jeans are acceptable.
Business casual attire is requested for the Annual Conference.

7. Does MCIEF make hotel reservations for class participants and/or are hotel room fees included with the class registration fees?

It is the class attendee’s responsibility to make their own hotel reservation and
pay for the accommodations. A room block with special pricing is negotiated
with the hotel for the class attendees. Reservations must be made before the
room block expires to receive the special pricing. Corresponding room block
expiration dates are listed on each class registration form.

8. How are additional staff members provided with access to the https://MCIEF.org website?

1. Login to the website
2. Scroll to the bottom of the homepage
3. In the “More Links” column click on “Additional Staff”
4. Fill in the required information and submit
5. A login and password will be generated by the website
6. An email will be sent to the new user, giving them login details

OR

Send an email to trs@mcief.org and provide name, email address and phone
number for each requested new user

9. How can a question be submitted for answering by Tommy Ruke or another subject-matter expert?
